Problem
The core problem Despite increasing household wet-waste generation, there is a lack of segregation, awareness and community engagement, resulting in inefficient processing, environmental pollution and barriers to adoption. The design challenge was to create solutions that were: Sustainable · Affordable · User-friendly · Scalable · Community-driven Strong portfolio version People don't necessarily need more waste-management infrastructure. They need a system that makes the right behaviour easier to understand, start and sustain.
Solution
Ascend Sustainability Rather than solving the problem through one product, the project developed a connected sustainability ecosystem. 01 — Learn Website Make waste management understandable through guides, videos, blogs, infographics and practical resources. 02 — Participate Community Create a progression-based community where people can learn, ask questions, share experiences and receive support. 03 — Practice Products Make segregation and composting physically easier through household products and DIY systems. The final solution was explicitly narrowed to these three components: website, WhatsApp community and practical waste-management products.
