Problem
How do people actually consume and trust information? Students encounter information across Instagram, YouTube, WhatsApp, Reddit, news, peers and family—but the journey from seeing information to trusting it is largely invisible. We wanted to understand where students get information, how deeply they engage with it, and how their trust changes across different topics.
Solution
Turn the chai stall into a living data visualization. We created Chai Pe Charcha — Sutron Se Pata Chala Hai, a participatory physical installation where students could represent their information habits through stickers, dots and stamps. Using the familiar social ritual of chai, abstract patterns of source, topic, engagement and trust became something people could physically see, interact with and discuss.
